Tokyo Sakura Tram Showa Quiz Rally 2026: Retro Tokyo by Streetcar
A paper quiz rally turns Tokyo’s surviving streetcar into a self-guided journey through Showa-era neighborhoods, small museums and old shopping streets.
Date and time
September 12–October 18, 2026. Participate during the opening hours of each quiz-point facility; closing days and hours vary.
Location
Ten points along the Tokyo Sakura Tram (Toden Arakawa Line) across Arakawa, Kita, Toshima and Shinjuku wards. Minowabashi and Waseda are useful terminal stations for planning a route.
Highlights
The route includes Minowabashi Omoidekan, Arakawa Tram Depot, Asukayama, Zoshigaya, Kansen-en and the Natsume Soseki Memorial Museum. The booklet links streetcar travel with Showa-era scenery, local history and neighborhood culture.
Booking and admission
No advance booking is required. Free quiz booklets are available from September 12 at participating points and designated Toei transport locations while supplies last. Transport fares and any venue admission are separate; an official Toden day pass costs ¥400 for adults and ¥200 for children.
How it fits a Tokyo itinerary
Choose three or four stops for a relaxed half-day rather than rushing all ten. Strong pairings include Asukayama and Oji, or Zoshigaya and Waseda—ideal for travelers interested in transport, literature and everyday Tokyo.
