Garden Concert at Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum: Free Music on the Lawn
A free, one-day lawn concert brings live music to the gardens of Tokyo’s former Prince Asaka Residence—an easy cultural stop that requires no Japanese-language knowledge.
Date and time
October 1, 2026. Performances begin at 13:30 and 15:00, with each set lasting about 30 minutes. The two programs are different. The concert will be cancelled if it rains; the museum plans to post any cancellation by 17:00 the previous day.
Location
The lawn at Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum, 5-21-9 Shirokanedai, Minato City. About 6 minutes on foot from Shirokanedai Station Exit 1 or 7 minutes from Meguro Station.
Highlights
Students from Senzoku Gakuen College of Music perform two outdoor sets. The first includes L.O.V.E and My Favorite Things; the second includes It Might as Well Be Spring. Repertoire may change.
Booking and admission
Free, with no advance booking announced. Garden admission is also free on October 1 for Tokyo Citizens’ Day. Check the museum’s official notice before travelling if rain is expected.
How it fits a Tokyo itinerary
Pair the concert with the museum’s Art Deco architecture, Shirokanedai or Meguro. The early-afternoon timing works well as a quieter alternative between central Tokyo sightseeing stops.
