Ueno Zoo Autumn Night Opening 2026: Animals, Music and a Night Vivarium
For four autumn evenings, Ueno Zoo stays open after dark, revealing different animal rhythms alongside keeper talks, live music and a specially darkened vivarium.
Date and time
October 9–12, 2026. Admission is from 09:30 to 19:00; visitors must leave by 20:00. Some animal exhibits close earlier.
Location
Ueno Zoo, 9-83 Ueno Park, Taito City. The Main Gate is about five minutes on foot from JR Ueno Station’s Park Exit.
Highlights
See elephants, tigers, giraffes, hippos and other animals into the evening. Daily keeper talks run 18:30–19:00. The Night Vivarium opens 17:00–19:30, while live music by Shinobazu Pond runs 18:30–19:30 on October 10 and 11.
Booking and admission
No special advance registration is listed for the extended opening. Regular zoo admission applies: adults ¥600, ages 65+ ¥300, middle-school students ¥200, and children through sixth grade free. The plant-specimen badge workshop on October 9 and 10 is first-come and mainly for elementary-age children.
How it fits a Tokyo itinerary
Pair museums or old streets around Ueno and Yanaka with a late-afternoon zoo visit, then continue to Ameyoko for dinner. The evening format adds a distinctive seasonal layer without requiring a full-day detour.
