TOKYO ATLAS 2026: Contemporary Art Across Tokyo’s Waterfront

TOKYO ATLAS turns Tokyo’s waterfront into a city-scale contemporary art route, placing works in parks, public buildings and rarely accessible spaces.

Date and time

October 10–December 20, 2026, 10:00–17:00. Closed Mondays, except October 12 and November 23; it closes on the following Tuesdays instead.

Location

Venues span Daiba Park and Odaiba Marine Park, Telecom Center Building, Aomi Minami Port Park and its underground parking area, Isle Shinagawa, and WHAT MUSEUM. Useful stations include Odaiba-kaihinkoen, Tokyo Teleport, Telecom Center and Tennozu Isle.

Highlights

International artists respond to Tokyo’s waterfront history and infrastructure. Highlights include Yayoi Kusama’s Narcissus Garden and giant balloon works, a live project featuring an artist inside a large bottle, and installations in a 197.5-metre underground space normally closed to the public.

Booking and admission

Admission is free at most venues; some programs and exhibitions may charge fees. No general advance booking has been announced. Some related Coordinates programs require advance application, with full details due in September.

How it fits a Tokyo itinerary

Daiba and Aomi work well as a three-to-four-hour art and waterfront route. Add Tennoz for a full-day itinerary combining contemporary art, warehouse architecture and canalside scenery.
