Koganei Park Autumn Colors Story 2026: Flowers, Lanterns and Light in Musashino
Koganei Park turns its Musashino landscape into a free autumn night walk, combining seasonal planting, natural materials, local history and softly choreographed light and sound.
Date and time
October 23–November 8, 2026. Lighting runs 17:00–20:00 Monday to Friday and 17:00–20:30 on weekends and public holidays.
Location
Koganei Park, around Ikoi-no-Hiroba and the paths near the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum. Useful access is by bus from Musashi-Koganei, Higashi-Koganei or Hana-Koganei stations.
Highlights
Seven themed areas trace a story through autumn flowers and illuminated trees. Lanterns and fabric motifs recall Koganei's springs and former textile industry, while a woodland hideaway uses park timber, natural instruments and workshops such as lantern making, astronomy and animation.
Booking and admission
Park entry and the light-up are free. Workshops run on Fridays, weekends and public holidays; advance booking is required, with limited same-day places. Check the official event page for individual schedules and availability.
How it fits a Tokyo itinerary
Visit the open-air architecture museum by day, then stay for the illumination. This is a strong western-Tokyo pairing for travelers interested in vernacular buildings, local history and a quieter evening outside the city center.
