  • 6d
  • 1 min read

Jindai Botanical Gardens’ newly announced autumn rose festival adds eight early-opening days for seeing richly colored roses when their fragrance is strongest.

Date and time

October 6–November 23, 2026, normally 09:30–17:00; last entry 16:00. Early opening from 08:00 on October 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25 and 31, and November 1. Closed October 13, 19 and 26, and November 2, 9 and 16.

Location

Jindai Botanical Gardens, 5-31-10 Jindaiji Motomachi, Chofu. From Chofu Station, take a bus to Jindai Shokubutsu Koen or Jindai Shokubutsu Koen-mae; buses also run from Mitaka and Kichijoji.

Highlights

The award-winning rose garden features deeper autumn colors, morning fragrance and rose hips among wild and old roses. The early openings offer the quietest atmosphere, and an official smartphone tool can identify rose varieties.

Booking and admission

No advance booking is required for the garden or early opening. Regular garden admission applies. Check the official flowering update before visiting.

How it fits a Tokyo itinerary

Best as a quiet western-Tokyo half-day: visit the roses early, then continue to Jindaiji Temple and a local soba lunch. It suits garden lovers, photographers and repeat visitors.
