Art Week Tokyo 2026: A Free Art Bus Across the City
Art Week Tokyo opens the doors to the city’s contemporary-art scene, with a free hop-on, hop-off bus linking more than 50 museums, institutions and galleries.
Date and time
Art Week Tokyo runs November 4–8, 2026, generally 10:00–18:00. The free AWT BUS operates November 6–8 from 10:00 to 18:00, approximately every 15 minutes.
Location
More than 50 art spaces across Tokyo. Routes connect areas including Takebashi and Yanaka, Kiyosumi-Shirakawa and Kyobashi, Ginza, Roppongi and Azabu, Aoyama, Meguro, Ebisu, Shinjuku and Omotesando. Board at any official AWT BUS stop.
Highlights
Six neighborhood routes and an east–west express line connect major museums with independent galleries and special AWT platforms. Stops include the National Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, Mori Art Museum, Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum and Tokyo Photographic Art Museum.
Booking and admission
No advance booking is needed for AWT BUS. Collect a free wristband at any bus stop or participating museum information desk; it permits unlimited rides for that day and offers discounts at participating museums. Individual exhibitions and guided programs may have separate admission or reservation rules.
How it fits a Tokyo itinerary
Choose one route for a half-day district itinerary or use the express link for a full-day art journey. A custom guide can combine contemporary art with neighborhood architecture, cafés and local streets while managing venue hours and transfers.
